A garbage truck, also known as a bin lorry or dustcart, is a specialized vehicle designed to collect and transport municipal solid waste, such as household and commercial trash, to disposal sites like landfills, recycling centers, or transfer stations. There are several main types, including rear loaders (where workers manually toss trash into the back), automated side loaders (using robotic arms to lift bins), and front loaders (which lift large commercial containers).
Types of Garbage Trucks
Garbage Compactor Truck: Rear loader garbage compactor truck a type of municipal refuse vehicle that is specially designed to compress or compact trash into a more manageable size. They can be equipped with a crusher and screens, which help them ensure the garbage is the right size before being compacted. These trucks are usually outfitted with a large, sloped conveyor belt that ejects the waste from the back of the truck.
Hook lift: Hook lift trucks are similar to Roll Off Trucks, dropping off and retrieving large containers in the industry. Hook Lifts are typically smaller and more versatile than their larger cousins -- they can also be used with flat beds or dump bodies.
